Creston Plaza Apartments Redevelopment Planning Begins

The Grand Rapids Housing Commission (GRHC) staff recently joined with our residents, community partner agencies and interested members of the general public to begin planning for the total redevelopment of Creston Plaza Apartments, a 100-unit subsidized housing development on Grand Rapids' northeast side. A series of meetings was held in October and November to brainstorm potential site plans and building types, styles and amenities, as well as possible resident service enhancements.

The GRHC will seek funding for the multi-million-dollar project through the federal HOPE VI Revitalization Grant Program and the Low-Income Housing Tax Credits Program. The architect for the project is James Childs Architects.

Many thanks to all who participated in our recent planning meetings. Rest assured that we will provide updates about this exciting new project as it progresses.
