Section 8 Project-Based Program

The Grand Rapids Housing Commission (GRHC) administers a HUD-funded Section 8 Project-Based Program that provides rental subsidies to specific housing developments. Our Project-Based Program currently supports 425 rental units at seven housing developments, including the following GRHC-operated low-income retirement communities: Leonard Terrace Apartments, Mount Mercy Apartments and Sheldon Apartments.

Click Retirement Developments to get more information about Leonard Terrace, Mount Mercy, Sheldon Apartments and several other GRHC developments that serve disabled and older adults.

The GRHC also administers non-agency-owned Project-Based Program units at the developments listed below. These are available to individuals and families in which the head of household or head of household's spouse is disabled or meets both age and income eligibility requirements.

To apply to rent through the Section 8 Project-Based Program, click Housing Application Form (Aplicación para Vivienda). Please note that there is a significant wait to rent at some Project-Based developments.
