Building Brighter Futures

A cornerstone of our mission is to support families in their efforts to become economically self-sufficient. This support can take many forms, from providing counseling services that help clients access health care, educational or social services to seeking out lending institutions that offer viable mortgage loans to lower-income households.

The Grand Rapids Housing Commission administers several HUD-funded programs designed specifically to empower families to forge a stronger financial future. Our Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program offers Housing Commission clients an opportunity to build a "nest egg" as they become employed and advance on the job. We also offer tools clients can use to realize their dreams of home ownership. Click the links at the left for details!
