Am I Eligible for Assistance?
Minimum Age Requirement
All applicants must be at least 18 years old or an emancipated minor under Michigan law. Most GRHC senior housing communities have a minimum age of 55; Ransom Tower Aparments has a minimum age of 62.

Applicants and all adult household members must provide a Social Security number or certify that an individual has no number. Each member of the household must be a U.S. citizen or national, or a non-citizen who has eligible immigration status.
Background Screening
To be eligible for assistance, all applicants and adult household members must pass a background check for criminal history; eviction records and landlord references are also checked.

The Housing Application Process
Once you have decided which developments meet your family’s needs, the next step is to complete and submit the GRHC’s online Housing Application Form. The form will offer you a place on the waiting lists of all developments for which you may qualify.
Please be advised that due to the number of applicants on our waiting lists, the GRHC cannot provide immediate housing. We are not an emergency housing provider.
If you are in need of emergency housing, please contact United Way 2-1-1.
How the Waiting Lists Work
When your name reaches the top of a waiting list, your family will be contacted by U.S. Mail with a packet of information and required paperwork that will help the GRHC confirm your eligibility for our programs.
It is important that you keep the contact information on your Housing Application Form up-to-date so that we can reach you when your name reaches the top of the waiting list. You can update your application securely online via the GRHC Applicant Portal.
While the GRHC cannot provide applicant “position numbers” for our waiting lists, you can log on to the GRHC Applicant Portal to confirm that your application is currently active.
